Dr. David Harris began his tenure with DeSoto ISD on April 2, 2012 after 16 years in the Beaumont ISD, most recently as Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools for the past four years.

Dr. Harris has his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, master’s degree in education from Prairie View A&M and doctoral degree in education administration from Lamar University. He has served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal and central office ad-ministrator prior to his role as superintendent for DeSoto ISD.

Dr. Harris is also an ordained minister, a dedicated husband and father and an avid community volunteer. He is active in the Chamber of Commerce, the Ministerial Alliance, the Rotary and a host of other community and civic organizations.

His philosophy is simple – expect to be the best and no excuses. He expects all students, staff and the commu-nity to raise their expectations and accept responsibility to achieve success – in everything they do!

Dr. Harris and his wife Lesa have three children, Davion – now a freshman in college, Dacory and Dalesia, who attend DeSoto ISD schools.
